Good day to you all! This week I have been doing a deep dive into just how many families have, or are starting to opt out of the “rat race” and shift their focus to a simpler way of life whether it be through starting a small farm or simply building a homestead that can provide them with the majority of their daily needs to be self sufficient and to live a much simpler way of life. The numbers are staggering and they continue to grow exponentially. It brings me great joy to witness these families find peace in their decision to completely dismantle their idea of success and happiness as they discover a much more rewarding lifestyle through their newfound connection to the earth and all it has to offer.
Make no mistake, these decisions come with a considerable amount of uneasiness. It takes a lot of guts to abandon one’s familiar source of comfort and security and exchange it for one that is filled with countless unknowns. I, for example, still work a full time job in a career that I have over twenty years in and that I am still passionate about today. That being said, I long for the day where I can give all of my time to our farm and this wonderful, worldwide community of farmers and homesteaders. Until then, I will give as much time as possible to this dream of ours and I will offer my support to any and all who wish to or are doing the same.
So, is this a modern day renaissance? Maybe so, maybe not, but it sure doesn’t feel like a fad to me.
